Spy gadgets can be very expensive, particularly if you're looking to by from the so-called spy shops. If you have the ability to wield a soldering iron and understand basic electronics, then you can easily make your own spy kit. This has got to be my favourite spy book of all time. The 101 Spy Gadgets gives you a whole range of spy gadgets you can make yourself by modifying existing devices such as VCRs, Camcorders, Lasers, Walkie Talkies, etc. The focus is on cheap spy gadgets since you re-use existing gadgets and add a few cheap electronic components.

You can make your own time-lapse video recorder, your own spy ears, a night vision camera and monocular, a remote control pan and tilt camera controller, a gadget for blinding spy cameras and a remote control surveillance car!
